Catherine Muriel Simpkin

SIMPKIN, Catherine Muriel, 73, of Halifax, passed away April 26, 2013 at the QEII, VG Site. Born in Reserve Mines, she was the daughter of the late Joseph G. and Annie MacNeil. She was an avid volunteer at the Veterans Memorial Hospital and active in her church community. Catherine was an Associate of the Sisters of Charity. She attended St Francis Xavier University and she worked for Revenue Canada, Sears and most recently Bayshore as a patient attendant. Catherine is survived by daughter, Mary Catherine Simpkin (Jason) and son, Donald Joseph Simpkin (Wendy); brothers, Donald (Terry) MacNeil and Joseph (Valerie) MacNeil; grandson, Alec John Simpkin. She was predeceased by husband, John Herbert Simpkin and brothers, James, Johnny and Freddie. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 1 at 6-8 pm in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax and the Memorial Service will take place on May 2 at 10 am in St Agnes Church, Mumford Road, Halifax. Father John Williams officiating. Burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
