Age 95, of Halifax, joined her beloved husband Dave in heaven on November 4th, 2021. A wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and special friend to many, passed away peacefully with her two daughters by her side.
A kind, caring and petite Cape Bretoner, it was love at first sight for Dave when he met his “Ceal” at Camp Hill Hospital, where she worked as a clerk serving meals to injured and sick soldiers. They had been married for 71 years. She was “lost” when Dave was called home to heaven in January of 2020 and this loss, sadly, caused her dementia to progress. Ceal lived a quiet and full life, enjoying daily walks and visits from her daughters and grandchildren.
Ceal spent some time at the Berkley Retirement Living residence on Green Street in Halifax before moving to the Heart-to-Heart Manor in Chester, where she spent the rest of her days coloring, napping, and watching mass. The family thanks the staff at both homes for their kindness and care. We would especially like to thank Lynn Key and the girls at Heart-to-Heart for being there for our Momma/Nan when we couldn’t be, much love to you all. Also, a big thank you to Dr. Isabella Dobek for her care and compassion.
Ceal is survived by her two daughters: Susan (Claude-deceased) Champagne of Bedford and Linda (David) Rogers of Stewiake. Grandchildren: Melanie Champagne, Jessica (Rycky) Young and Sean (Samantha) Rogers. Great Grandchildren: Penelope Rogers, Lincoln Porter, Nicholas, Sarah, and Chloe Young; and many cherished nieces and nephews. Fly high Momma/Nan, we will miss you so much.
Besides the love of her life Dave, and her parents Simon & Agnes, she is predeceased by siblings: William (Minnie) Morvan, Henry (Mary) Morvan, Jimmy Morvan, Mary (Alexander) Gillis, Annie (Patrick) Martell, Florence (Walter) Robichaud, Gladys (Nick) Kaszor, and Mary-Ellen (Gerald) Sampson.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 11th from 3-5pm and again from 7-9pm at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, NS. A Mass of Christian burial service will take place Friday, November 12th at 11am at Saint Mother Teresa of Kolkata Catholic Church, 6032 Normandy Drive, Halifax, NS. COVID-19 restrictions in place: Proof of full vaccination and ID are required, and unfortunately there will not be a reception following the service. For those who cannot attend in person a livestream of the service can be accessed by visiting this link: https://funeraweb.tv/en/diffusions/40394. Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 33 Old Sackville Rd, Sackville, NS.
We wish to extend our heartfelt thank you to everyone for paying our Momma/Nan the respect she deserves. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her memory to the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation (for Alzheimer’s research). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may also be shared at www.JASnowFuneralHome.com
God saw you getting tired when a cure was not to be, so he closed his arms around your heart and whispered, “come with me”.
