

HOULIHAN, Claire— 82, Halifax, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2010, in Parkstone Enhanced Care. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of Edwin Kearns and Rita (Supple) Kearns. Claire was deeply devoted to her family and had a special relationship with each of her five children. She also had a great love for dogs and was an avid reader. Claire is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Frank, and by their children, Frank (Leslie), Milton, Ont.; Christopher, Montreal, Que.; Tim (Leona), Halifax; Donna (Michael) McCormick, Halifax; Brian (Joanne), Halifax, and by grandchildren, Thomas, Laura, Anne Marie, Matthew, Katie, Benjamin and Rowan. Claire is also survived by brother, Arthur (Evelyn) Kearns of Jollimore. She was predeceased by brother, George in childhood. The family would like to thank the staff of Parkstone Enhanced Care, Melville Lodge and Aberdeen Hall - Parkland Estates for the care and support given to Claire and her family over the past three years. The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, January 18, in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Mumford Road. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax.
