Claudette Sylvia Hébert (née Gallant), age 75, passed away peacefully April 21, 2021 after a very short battle with cancer. She was born August 23rd, 1945 in St. Charles de Kent, New Brunswick to Albert and Élodie Gallant. She married the love of her life, Georges Hébert, who brought beautiful music to her and the family every day.
Claudette had the gift of hospitality and loved spending time with her friends and family, especially when it included playing bridge. She was an exceptional bridge player; many of her bridge partners have said that they felt confident to win, when they were playing with her. She often hosted wonderful dinner parties and was an amazing cook. She also enjoyed serving others as a volunteer, most recently for Ivany House.
Claudette was a wonderful mother, first and foremost. She stayed at home with her children for many years, supporting her husband who was travelling for work, and eventually went back to work for various branches of the federal government, retiring in 2010. Claudette enjoyed every minute of time she spent with her children. She especially loved her role as Nannie, often teaching her granddaughters how to make her homemade mac and cheese or sweet and salty popcorn. One of her great joys was watching her granddaughters play instruments; Natalie playing the violin, Sarah on the piano and Isabelle playing the ukulele.
Claudette is survived by her husband Georges, sisters Florine Agnew (Walter), Moncton, Phyllis Gallant, Moncton, Marguerite Melanson (Jean), Dieppe, Diane LeBlanc (Maurice) Moncton; brothers Aldo Gallant (Lynn), Alberta, Yvon Gallant, Alberta, Daniel Gallant (Marc Fortin), Montréal, QC; her son Chris Hébert (Vivian Tsui), Toronto and daughter Paula Little (Bryan), Bedford; grandchildren, Natalie Hébert, Sarah Little, and Isabelle Little as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and amazing friends. Claudette was predeceased by parents Albert Gallant and Élodie (Robichaud) as well as brother Clarence (Marie Louise Gallant, Toronto), sisters in law, Sandra and Stella (Yvon) and her sister Gisèle Dixon (Barry Dixon and Doug Baker).
Claudette was blessed to have married into a musical family (Bert and Anita Hébert), whose son Georges had a long and successful musical career.
Claudette loved travelling and was able to visit many beautiful places around the world with her husband and children. She especially loved her recent trips - to Hawaii with her son’s family, and to Europe with her husband and friends.
Claudette was loved, and will be missed, by many.
