

CAMPBELL, Daniel Joseph — 76, of Halifax. It is with deep sadness that we announce that he passed away June 28, 2012, in the VG Site, QEII. He was born in Dominion, Cape Breton, a son of Daniel and Florence Campbell. He was retired from the Halifax School Board. He was most proud of his children and got tremendous joy spending time with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He enjoyed doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles and scratch tickets. He was very musically inclined, playing guitar, mandolin, harmonica, just to mention a few. He also enjoyed singing. He was affectionately known as "Mr. C" by many friends and his door was always open. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary (Chaddock); daughters, Kathy (Tom Saunders), Mary (Steve Griffiths), Susie (Donnie McMullin), Florrie (Gary Johnston), Carol Ann (Chris Whitman), Denise (Joey Martell), Dawn (Paul Thibideau); sons, Danny (Heather), Bernie (Sharon); sisters, Myrna and Delores; brother, Murdoch; grandchildren, Trish, Danny, Melissa, Thomas, Stephen, Sarah, Brandon, Jason, Lauren, Brett, Christopher, Jacqueline and Luke; great-grandchildren, Emma and Isabelle; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five sisters and five brothers. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 4, in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, Lacewood Drive, Halifax, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 5, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Lung Association. Thank you to the VON and the many doctors and nurses that provided his care.
