Darrold was a pioneer in Canadian aviation, flying for many years with Maritime Central Airways, Eastern Pacific Airways, Canadian Airways and Air Canada. From grass airfields in Prince Edward Island to landing Boeing 767s in Rome, his illustrious career as a Captain allowed him to demonstrate his dedication and innovation to his crew members, passengers and to the art of flying an aircraft. He leaves behind a tremendous number of friends that he made along his life’s journey all of whom cherish fond memories of him, either in the left or right seat.
Darrold was a generous person, always ready to lend a helping hand to family or friends, whatever the challenge they faced. He was a wealth of knowledge in practical things like mechanical devices, chemistry, cooking and building things, all of which will be remembered dearly by his family and friends.
In keeping with Darrold’s wishes, his body has been cremated, and a private family interment will be held at a later date.
Donations in Darrold’s memory may be made to Diabetes Canada or to any charity of choice.
