

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis Wayne Pottie on January 27, 2026 at the age of 77. Dennis was born on September 15, 1948 to the late Evelyn and Edward Pottie of Halifax, NS.
Dennis worked for BIO and the Department of Fisheries for a total of 35 years. Dennis was born was Spina Bifida but he didn’t focus on his illness. He spent his spare time playing wheelchair basketball, sailing and loved watching football, race car sports. He loved to tinker with things that did not work.
Dennis spent his time on others. His devotion was to his wife, Debbie and to his family who were a big part of his life. He was the embodiment of hard work, character and perseverance. He was a devoted brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. He was known for his quick wit, kind heart and willingness to help others.
He is survived by his brother, Bruce (Sharon); brothers-in-law, Allan (Wendy), Clyde (Lorraine), Ross (Cheryl); sister-in-law, Bonnie; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Debbie; brother, Terry; and special nephew, Prescott; mother and father-in-law, Viola and Clyde Hogan; sister-in-law, Wendy.
A special thank you to Allan and Wendy for everything they have done for Dennis. You are both very special. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. He will be missed and lovingly remembered.
