Dolorosa "Doris" Theresa Louise Mason

Mason, Dolorosa “Doris” Theresa Louise, 89 of Halifax, passed away on February 23, 2017, at the Shannex Parkstone Enhanced Care. Born in Temiskaming, ON, on April 7, 1927, she was a daughter of Cybil and Ernest Hebert.

She was an avid gardener and spent many hours tending her rock garden. She also liked to knit and read. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother who put her family first. She enjoyed her grandchildren very much and they had many sleepovers at Grammy’s. She will be deeply missed by all, but we know she is now with Our Lord in the most beautiful garden of all.

She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Mason (Brian Arsenault), Pamela Mason (Paul Pachkowski), Donna Mason (Robert Forewell) and Lisa (Tom) Lavers; sisters, Yvonne Smith and Bernadette Levere; brothers, Veron, Blair, Clair, and Emile Hebert; grandchildren, Kirsten (Geoff) Ellis, Kyle Busche, Rachel, Raymond and Marcus Forewell, Lauren, Gabrielle and Zachary Lavers, and great-grandson, Hayden Veith.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Meighen “Lester” Mason; brothers, Raymond, Cyril and Gerald; sister, Avernia Owens; daughters, Carol Rafuse , Angela Busche and son, Gerald.

Visitation will take place at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, on Tuesday, February 28th from 6-8 pm. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 1st at 11 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 3709 Prospect Road, Shad Bay, with Rev. Sebastian Szewczyk officiating, with burial to follow in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Tangier, NS.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of NS.
