CHRISTIE (MacKay), Donna Marie

Age 73, passed away on July 20, 2018 in Ivany House in Bedford. Donna was born on November 22, 1944 in Sydney to Donald and Cleo (Vallis) MacKay. Donna grew up in New Waterford along with her six brothers, Ron, Frank, Greg, Donnie, Gerard and Fred. After obtaining her RN diploma from St. Rita's Hospital in Sydney, Donna married her life-long sweetheart Ross Christie on May 18, 1968. Donna and Ross settled in Bedford where they lived for the rest of their lives and raised three children, Sean (Sheila MacLeod), Steven (Sarah Touchie) and Sheri (Iain Paris). While raising her family, Donna continued to work as a nurse spending most of her career in the neuro-intensive care unit. After retiring Donna enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, the lights of her life, Georgia, Liah, Ruth, Heather, Julia, Michael, Alistair and Callum. Donna was predeceased by her father, Donald; mother, Cleo and her beloved husband, Ross. A Service of Remembrance will be held in Saint Ignatius Parish, Bedford, on Wednesday, July 25th, at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Maritime Brain Tissue Bank.
