July 30, 1986 – June 20, 2025
A big heart, a radiant laugh, and zero chill.
He’d roll his eyes and throw up a “W” at this whole obituary thing, so we’ll try to keep it short (for him) and honest (for us).
Dorian Christian MacDonald—also known as D-Mac and Dorian Son—left this earth far too soon while on vacation in the Dominican Republic.
He was just 38 years young.
Dorian wasn’t just someone you met. He was someone you “experienced”— time with Dorian felt like an escape from the mundane or an unexpected day off work. He always left you better than he found you. Dorian could dress to the nines or kick it on the couch, but no matter the setting, Dorian brought his authentic flavor that filled your soul and could make your heart swell with love and laughter.
He walked into every room like he owned the place—but not before complimenting your outfit and pulling you in for a hug. He left everyone feeling a little lighter, a little more seen, and a lot more loved.
He was the kind of person who texted “I love you” out of the blue. Wore his heart, unapologetically, on his sleeve, he rooted for the underdog and somehow made everyone feel special. Dorian was the embodiment of “hospitality” —so much so that his warmth and authenticity earned him Calgary’s White Hat Award for Service Excellence, a well-deserved nod to the kind of presence he brought to every space.
He had that infectious energy that’s impossible to replicate and feels unbearable, to now, live without. Dorian loved hard. He loved the ocean, his people—his mom, his sisters, his extended family, and his chosen family—deeply and without hesitation. If you were ever loved by Dorian, you know it. That love was unmistakable.
Dorian was predeceased by his father, Raymond MacDonald. He is survived by the light of his life; his incredible mother Connie, whom he loved unconditionally; his sisters, with whom he shared a deep and unbreakable bond, Tammie (Aran) and Danielle (Jamie); his niece and nephew, who were his everything, Jazmyn and Jackson; many cousins, aunts, and uncles; and a loyal tribe of lifelong friends and bonus family who claimed him as their own.
A celebration of Dorian’s life will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home on Friday, July 25, at 10 a.m., where we’ll laugh, cry, and honor him the way he deserves—with stories, hugs, West Coast music, and maybe even an 8 Mile-inspired freestyle battle. Immediately after the service on Friday, we invite you to join us at St. John’s cemetery in Hubbards, NS. We will return Dorian to the earth, across from Queensland Beach, where he’ll be laid to rest with an eternal ocean view.
Wear something bold. Make sure you’re smelling good. And please—say “I love you” to someone unexpected. Be vibrant, be real, and be your most authentic self. That’s what he would want. That’s how he lived. That’s how we’ll remember him.
Dorian, you were always a ray of sunshine—and you are already missed beyond measure. The corners of all our hearts will hold space for you, always.
You’re a legend and legends never die.
We will never forget you. We will never stop talking about you.
We love you completely.
Forever? Foreva, Eva. 🤍
