

Elizabeth Ann Lough “Betty” age 90, of Halifax, passed away at the St. Vincent’s Nursing Home on November 13, 2017. Born in Dartmouth, she was the daughter of Reginald F. Young and Florence Hadley. Betty grew up in Dartmouth and attended a catholic Boarding School. She joined the Wagwaltic Club at an early age and became an avid tennis player.
She moved to Toronto in 1945 and shortly thereafter met her husband, Ken Lough, an accountant and accomplished saxophonist. They married in 1955 and had two children and moved back to Halifax in 1968. They resided in Clayton Park where Betty proceeded to have everything in the house white and blue. She also liked to wear a lot of blue and was always regarded as a fine dresser as well as a great bridge player. Betty also volunteered for a lot of different charities such as the IWK. Betty was also a Breast Cancer survivor and survived two heart attacks.
Survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Jane Lough; son, Robert George Lough; nieces and nephews, Peter Young (Margret), Jacqueline Sellers, Jackie Young, Lyan Chisholm, Bobby Young, and Heather Young. She was predeceased by her husband, G. Kenneth Lough in 1993; brothers, Jack and Donald Young; sisters, Barbara and Mary Young – She was the middle sister; aunt, Frankie and Brennan.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 18 from 10 am to 12 pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax.
