

ARSENAULT, Ernest – 96, of Halifax passed away with his family by his side July 31, 2012 at the VG Site, QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Prince Edward Island, he was the son of the late Joseph and Beatrice (Gallant) Arsenault. Ernest was a veteran of the Second World War. He was wounded in the Battle of Ortona. He worked for Camp Hill Hospital for 31 years. He had a great love for Scottish fiddle music and played the fiddle himself. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Ernest was a loving husband of 58 years, a loving father; grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Clare (Canning) Arsenault; daughters Irene (Drew) Meko, Michelle (Philip) Arsenault and Marie (George) Walsh; sons Eugene (Kay) Arsenault and Glenn (Crystal) Arsenault; sisters Melvina (Edgar) Peters, Sylvia (Joe) Arsenault; brothers Howard (Bertha) Arsenault and Leroy (Evelyn) Arsenault.; eleven grandchildren Kelly (Alex), Ryan, Katelyn (Keegan), Jesse, Dylan, P.J., Amy, Jeremy, Brandon, Jenna and Dennis, and three great-grandchildren Connor, Corey and Brody. Predeceased by brother Jerry (Flossie) Arsenault and sisters Irene Arsenault and Emily (Nick) Gerogiannis. Special thanks to the caring nurses of 7A Palliative Care, for their kind and compassionate care of our dad, and a special thank you to Devin. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax on Thursday, August 2nd from 6-8pm. Funeral service will be held at Saint Benedict Parish on Friday, August 3rd at 10:30am. Reception to follow in church hall. Burial at a later date.
