Evelyn Maude Young

Evelyn was born on August 28, 1928, in Croydon, London, UK and passed away peacefully on November 5, 2016 at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. She was predeceased by her husband, L. F. “Paddy” Young, her parents, E. M. “Maude” Collins and P. F. “Fred” Collins, as well as her sister Bette Wignall and brother Tom Collins. Evelyn is survived by her children, Sheila Landry (Harold); Jeff (Pat); Colin (Sherri); and Ross (Jennifer), grandchildren Jason Landry (Cindy), John Landry (Christine), Luke Young, Jasmine Trott (Matthew), as well as several great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

Evelyn and her family came to Canada in 1958. She settled into her new life as a homemaker and later on was employed by Eaton’s of Canada for more than 15 years. Evelyn belonged to Whites Lake Legion for many years. She and Paddy, both great animal lovers, enjoyed their retirement years in their townhouse condo and travelled to Ireland and England, as well as throughout the USA and Canada.

The family members thank Dr. Paul Renault, Dr. Valerie Lewis, Dr. Liam Mulroy, Dr. G. McKean, and the many health-care professionals on 7A, Palliative Care, VGH, Halifax who provided outstanding care. Our heartfelt thanks to Evelyn’s neighbours for their friendship and many kindnesses over the years.
