It is with great sadness that we share the peaceful passing of Frank Albert Beazley at the QE II Palliative Care Unit on November 25, 2021.
Born in Halifax in 1949, Frank was a son of the late Rita Elizabeth Ryan and Frank Hugh Beazley.
After his formal schooling Frank went to work with Dominion Stores Limited until April 1, 1970 when he joined the Halifax Police Department later to be known as the Halifax Regional Police. He moved through the ranks from Constable, Corporal, Sergeant, Staff Sergeant, Inspector, Superintendent, Deputy Chief and then Chief of Police. In recognition of his many contributions to policing he received the distinction of Officer of the Order of Merit for the Police Forces (OOM) and is the recipient of the Police Exemplary Service Medal and Bar, Queens Golden Jubilee Medal, Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Province of Nova Scotia Long Service Medal and Bar. In 2012 Frank was also the recipient of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Halifax Inspire Award. He was also a member of the Nova Scotia Chiefs of Police Association and served as Atlantic Vice President of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police.
He is survived by his wife Ann G Ferguson; his daughter, Andrea (Mark); grandchildren, Jayson, Michaela, Natassja, Marcus, and great granddaughter, Ophilia. He is also survived by brother, Cyril Thomas Beazley (Linda) and sister, Sheree Ann Smith (Dale); as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his son, Frank Edward Beazley; brother, Stephen Vincent Beazley and sister, Beverley Wilson.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lori Wood and her team at the Cancer Clinic QE II as well as the Palliative Care team.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday December 1, 2021 at 11am in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, 6903 Mumford Road. Proof of double vaccination and photo ID will be required to attend the service. For those unable to attend the service will be livestreamed, the link will be available on the funeral home website. Burial will follow the service at Mount Olivet cemetery. Family flowers only, memorial donations may be made to the Halifax United Way or a charity of choice.
