Frank Kenney, age 78 of Halifax passed away peacefully in the QEII on March 1, 2022. He was the son of Cleveland Kenney and Dorothy Bent. Frank is survived by his wife Patricia (Fougere) of 54 years, daughter Joy (John and step-son Alexander), Antigonish, granddaughters Jade and Brooke Macdonald. Also surviving are his brother Paul (Liz) British Columbia and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Debbie (Alan) Woad, Sambro Head.
Frank graduated from civil engineering at UNB in 1967 and began a long career in the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation. During his working career and raising a family, camping trips were fit in wherever and whenever possible and a love of travel was born. After an early retirement at age 52 the real fun began for him and his wife. They spent the next several years as ‘snow birds’ enjoying winters in Florida and summers and family time camping in the Annapolis Valley. After the birth of his two granddaughters and wanting to spend more time with family, Frank and Pat settled back in Halifax and began their next adventure - cruises. Lots of them! Many years were spent exploring the Caribbean, Mediterranean and the South Pacific. The travelling years and the many friends made along the way were truly the best years of Frank’s life and something he was grateful for every day. It is no small accomplishment to live a life of fulfilled dreams with a happy and loved family by your side. He will be missed.
The family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the many VON workers coming to ‘visit’ over the last few years and to the doctors, nurses and staff at the QEII who do such a wonderful job of making difficult times a little easier to bear. Their efforts have been very much appreciated.
A special thank you to Dr. Min Lee and Dr. Paul Bonner.
A memorial service will be held at the J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive at 10:00 on March 8, 2022. Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
