Fred died January 16, 2015, in a tragic snowmobile accident in Bathurst, New Brunswick. Born in Halifax on April 5, 1962 to Larry and Doris (Nelson) Pope.
Fred was a successful business owner. He owned and operated Pope’s General Cont. Ltd. since 1985, opening up Pope’s Advanced Windows and Doors in 2008.
Fred lived life to the fullest. He loved his hockey. Still hoping his favourite team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, were going to get a cup or at least make the play offs. He still played hockey 4 times a week. He enjoyed golfing, camping, 4-wheeling, boating, and died doing what he loved, snowmobiling. He loved his trips to the cottage and travelling down south with friends. Oh how he loved his trucks.
He was the most wonderful husband anyone could ask for. Survived by his wife of 28 years, Charlene (Doran) and proud father of Jeffrey (Brittany); brother to sisters, Deborah (Donnie) Matthews, Lynn (Alex) Lecreux, Cindy (Larry) Jardine; mother-in-law, Janet Doran; brother-in-law to Charles, George, Ray, Richard, and Ida, Erna, Shirley, Margaret, and Charlotte; uncle to many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his furry friends, Sammy and Kaley.
Visitation will take place in J.A. Snow Funeral Home. 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax 902-455-0531, on Friday, January 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Service will take place on Saturday, January 24 at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 3709 Prospect Road, Shad Bay, with reception to follow.
Until we meet again.
