

Of Hatchet Lake, passed away October 27, 2016, at the QEII Health Sciences Centre with his loving family by his side. Born in St. Margaret’s Bay, he was the son of Hubert and Leana Boutilier (Langille).
Gerald served in WWII (Lance Corporal) serving in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Continental Europe. Decorated with 1939-1945 Star, France & Germany Star, Defense Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal & Clasp. After being captured for 11 months in Germany, he returned to Halifax to continue to serve as Military Police. After service life, Gerald started his civilian career as an operator for the Department of Transportation, retiring after 35 years to spend quality time in Tatamagouche.
Predeceased by his wife, Ruth Boutilier (Nicholson). Survived by daughters, Rosemarie Mitchell, Goodwood; Diane Carlton (Carl), Hatchet Lake; son, John, Halifax; grandchildren;Corrina, Kevin, Kelly, Cory, Chris, Jason, Ashley, 12 great-grandchildren; Barret, Liamarie, Jessica, Gillian, Ross, William, Matthew, Kyle, Justin, Spencer, Renee, Ethan and 2 great-great grandchildren Carter & Catherine.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2016, at 11am at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Burial in Sunrise Park Cemetery. Reception to follow burial at Prospect Road Community Centre, 2141 Prospect Road, Hatchet Lake. Special thanks to the 8.3 nursing staff and to Jessica and Gillian for the meals to nourish our family.
