

MacDonald, Geraldine Margaret “Gerry” 77 of Timberlea , passed away January 10, 2015 in Maplestone Enhanced Care. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Gerald and Evelyn ( Hartrey) Hatter. Gerry was active in her Christian Faith and demonstrated this in the community. She was a lay reader in Sacred Heart Church; she was active in the Women’s Curcilllo Movement and taught religious education in her own home. Gerry once said “I would not want to live in a world without children.” This love of children often overlapped with her love of the water .Gerry taught countless neighborhood children to swim in her beloved Fraser’s Lake. Gerry also loved the beach and transported many card loads of kids to Queensland any chance she had. Gerry was happiest when friends and family were together. There was always plenty to eat, lots of dancing, scrabble, or her favorite, a rousing game of bridge and a lobster boil. Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Lloyd three sons Jonathan, Donald and David, daughter Patricia; brothers John, Peter, William; sisters Barbara, Mary, Joyce, Anne, Nancy y and Patsy and five grandchildren Jesse, Devon, Andrew, Nicholas and Ainsley; with many nieces and nephews. Gerry was predeceased by her brother Terry. The family would like to thank the staff at Maplestone for the love, care and compassion shown Gerry and her family. Visitation will be 2-4, 6-8 Wednesday January 14 in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr. Halifax. Funeral service will be held 1:30pm Thursday in St. John the Baptist Church, Purcell’s Cove Rd. Halifax. Interment at a later date. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
