Trudy happily resided at Parkland Estates, Aberdeen Hall for the past 8 years. Trudy passed away peacefully at Queen Elizabeth Health Science Centre (QEII) Thursday, June 30th. Trudy was born in St.John’s, Newfoundland and moved to Halifax to pursue her chosen career in nursing to help those in need of care.Trudy was predeceased by her parents, John and Alice and her brother, Gerald. She is survived by her niece Clare and her nephews, David (Patricia), Edward (Elaine), Gerald (Barbara) and Stephen (Jane), as well as 10 grand and 5 great- grandnephews and nieces.Trudy graduated from the Halifax Infirmary School of Nursing class of 1940. She joined the staff of Camp Hill Hospital in 1945 specializing in overseeing the sanitation of all surgery utensils in the emergency room for many years. Prior to retirement in 1982 she was Head Nurse. She was also a long time member of St. Pius X Church.Trudy’s zest for life and her adventurous spirit took her to many countries. She loved nature and local bird watching as well. Trudy also had a seaside cottage which she enjoyed for many years.
Trudy realized the value of volunteering and loyally dedicated herself to that task, fulfilling her responsibilities endlessly until two years ago. She touched many lives, both in her professional career and personal life. She lived life to the fullest, always active, and ready to go and be involved. Trudy loved to laugh, go for drives, had a great sense of humour, keen wit, loved to recite poetry and was an excellent bridge player as well as a bowler in her younger years.Trudy will be sadly missed by her family and friends. The family extends a sincere thank you to her friend Audrey Siddall for all her support and especially for being by her bedside the last days of her life.
