Moulton, Gordon John 70 of Halifax, passed away peacefully at the QE II Hospital on Friday, September 23rd, 2011 surrounded by his family. Born on February 13th, 1941, Gordon was the son of the late John and Blanche (Pike) Moulton. He was a beloved husband, a dedicated father of three children and cherished by many who had the pleasure to meet him. Never shying away from hard work, he had a long retail career that lasted 37 years. He started at Simpsons at the age of 17 progressing from stock boy to store manager of The Bay in Mic Mac Mall. He then transferred to the property division, Markborough Properties, initially as the manager of the Truro Mall followed by manager of Mic Mac Mall from which he retired in 1996. During those years he proudly served his country as a member of the Reserve Army where he reached the rank of Warrant Officer, earned university credits in business and helped lovingly raise three children all with his special brand of tireless work ethic and dedication. During his retirement he served on the Centennial Arena Commission. As important as his career was, he never forgot his family and friends. Whether it was driving to rinks, fields or recitals with his family to lending a hand to neighbours or never missing a hunting trip in over 25 years with some of his closest friends, you could always count on him. His open and sharing nature was infectious as many experienced during parties, receptions or get-togethers at the family house or cottage. During those events he was the life of the party and his love for dancing was obvious as he was routinely the first one on the dance floor. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Janet (Hopper) Moulton, daughters Valerie (Shawn Beazley) Moulton and Tracy (Troy) Wagner, son David (Karen) Moulton, sisters Virginia Raftus, Lillian (Ronald) Johnston all of Halifax, Louise Roach of New Waterford, Alvina Lickman of Trenton Michigan, brother Lloyd (Carole) Moulton of Mossley Ontario, mother-in-law Ruth Hall and sister-in-law Beverley Powell of Ottawa, Granddaughter Kaitlyn Wagner (his pride and joy) and Granddog Jessy. He is predeceased by his first wife Marilyn (Hall) Moulton, sister Grace Hayter and brother Ralph Moulton. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 27th at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive. Where memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 28th at 11:00 am. Interment to follow in Fairview Lawn Cemetery. Family flowers only.
