

MARRYATT, Hector Miles – 89, Harrietsfield, passed away peacefully at the Halifax Infirmary, QEII Health Sciences Centre on December 9th, 2010. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Ainsley and Violet (Glazebrook) Marryatt, stepson of the late Edythe (Meltzer) Marryatt. He retired in 1985 and was a member of Local 56, Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. His passions were fishing, hunting, playing cards and going to his cottage outside of Bridgewater. He never gave up hope that his Toronto Bluejays and Maple Leafs would make a comeback. He loved to watch Wayne Gretzky and Sidney Crosby play hockey. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his cat Blackie. He is survived by his daughter Bernice (Doug) Kidston, Harrietsfield and special grandson, Jeff (Amanda) Kidston, Lower Sackville, sisters Thelma Thomas, Dartmouth, Mary Iceton, Purcell’s Cove, Kathleen (George) Gaudin, LaCombe AB, Patricia (Russell) Priske, Timberlea, Margaret (Alan) Hart and Elizabeth Fripps both of Spryfield, brother, John (Irene) Marryatt, Purcell’s Cove, several nieces, nephews and cousins including special nieces, Isabel Horton and Marion Matley, very special nephew, David Brunt. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret (Marriott), son Allan “Bub”, sister Nancy (Bernard) Grady, brothers Peter and George. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, December 12th. Funeral service will also take place at 2 p.m., Monday December 13th, both at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax. Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lower Sackville following the service. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Bide-Awhile animal shelter P.O. Box 50029, RPO Southdale, Dartmouth N.S.
