She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Fossberg, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage; her children Janne, Lisbeth (Ted), and Ronny (Stephanie); her grandchildren Alexander, Leah (Tyler), Thomas, and Markus; and her great-grandchildren Leni and Mason.
Born in Bergen, Norway, she later made her home in Montreal, Canada, where she and Robert settled in 1967 and built a full and vibrant life. In 2024, she and Robert moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, to be closer to family—a transition that brought her great comfort and joy.
An artist at heart, she expressed herself through painting, knitting, and needlepoint, and through music as a classical guitarist. She loved movement and rhythm, finding joy in tap dancing and jazz ballet throughout her life. Creative in every sense, she brought beauty and energy into all that she did.
She was also a fantastic cook who loved to entertain. Her dinner parties were legendary—warm, welcoming gatherings filled with laughter, conversation, and wonderful food. Her table was always a place where people felt at home.
For many years, she generously volunteered at the Norwegian Seamen’s Church of Montreal, where she was also a devoted member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary Club. The friendships and sense of community she found there were deeply meaningful to her.
She loved to travel and shared many beautiful journeys with friends and family, collecting memories from places near and far. Above all, she cherished her community of friends and especially treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren, who were the greatest joy of her life.
A celebration of her life will be held in the spring. Details will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and doctors of units 6.2, 6.4, and 5.1 at the Halifax Infirmary Hospital for their compassionate care, professionalism, and kindness.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her creativity, warmth, and generous spirit.
