Jacqueline Sterling Watson

Jackie was born on May 25, 1938 in Saint John, New Brunswick, and was the daughter of the late Laurent and Audrey (Stirling) LaCasse.

Jackie will lovingly be remembered by her two children, Barry Watson (Andrea) and Tammy Watson, and her granddaughter, Milena. Jackie was pre-deceased by her husband, Robert (Bob) Watson. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and leaves behind many beautiful memories.

Jackie was married in 1958 and lived in Saint John before moving to Halifax and then Deep Brook, Nova Scotia. Jackie worked for Simpson Sears in book-keeping before starting a family. She created a loving home where everyone was always welcome. Jackie hosted many Naval reunion parties for military friends, as well as countless Bluegrass jam sessions with her husband Bob and many friends. She was famous for her cooking, especially her homemade rolls which could always be found rising by the woodstove. Jackie’s interests included bingo, reading, knitting and candlepin bowling with the ladies league in Cornwallis. As her children grew up, she was a familiar face at the Deep Brook General Store, where she enjoyed working part-time.

In her last years, Jackie moved to Bedford to be closer to her children. She lived for her family, especially her granddaughter, Milena, who she loved dearly. They spent lots of time together, taking Belle for little walks, pizza nights and watching Master Chef Junior and Harry Potter. She also had a special place in her heart for her step-granddaughter, Nathalia. She loved celebrating special occasions and holidays with family at Barry and Andrea’s and looking after their cat, Ricky. She lived a selfless life, was generous and kind – those values and her spirit will live on in our hearts.

Private family viewing was held on Monday, August 12, 2019 at J. A. Snow Funeral Home. Private graveside service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2019 in the Madonna Cemetery, Marshalltown, Digby Co.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their love, care and support during the last several months at the QEII Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in support of Endocrinology or Kidney research, QEII Foundation.
