Jacques Emile Comeau, 45, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Loving husband, affectionately known as 'George' to wife Sheri (Price) and extremely proud Papa to his 10 year old son Ben, passed away suddenly, tragically and all too soon from a heart attack on Monday, February 10, 2014.
Jacques grew up in Church Point and was a resident of Halifax since 1983. He was an avid singer/songwriter. He cherished his time playing his guitar and singing songs about his Acadian roots and his family. Jacques loved to laugh. He told a great story. And more often than not, those stories were about those people closest to him. Jacques, Sheri and Ben loved spending as much time as possible at the family home in Belliveau Cove, which included his yearly tradition of jumping off the wharf.
Jacques loved hockey. In his earlier years, he played Midget AAA and also played for the Saint Mary’s Huskies. His love of the game was rekindled in the hours he shared on the ice with Ben. Jacques was a beloved member of the Halifax Hawks hockey community. He was an inspiration to all of the young players he spent so many years coaching and developing in the local area. His gift to those young players won him the admiration of the minor hockey community. Once you were part of Jacques’ team, he never forgot his players and followed their progress with much pride – always remaining Coach Jacques.
A Saint Mary’s University graduate, Jacques was a prominent Halifax investment advisor with The Oyler Group - BMO Nesbitt Burns. He previously worked with RBC Royal Bank in investment and retirement planning. He prided himself on putting his clients first.
His life’s greatest passions were Sheri and Ben. His love, friendship, leadership, kindness, laughter and indomitable spirit will be missed.
Jacques is survived by his much loved wife of 20 years, Sheri Price; his son Ben Comeau; his constant companion, Milou; his father, Louis R and mother, Clarice (Theriault); two sisters, Louise Anne (Geoff Monge) and Martine. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Judy and Tom Price of Dartmouth; sisters-in-law, Tracy (Robert) and Pamela (Wes); and adored uncle to several nieces and nephews. He was a truly wonderful friend to many.
Visitation will take place at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr, Halifax (455-0531) on Friday, February 14, 2014, from 1:00 -3:00 pm and 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Funeral mass and a celebration of Jacques' life will be held at St. Agnes Parish on Mumford Road, on Saturday, February 15, at 10:00 a.m.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the St Bernard’s Catholic Church, CP68, Belliveau Cove, NS, B0W 1J0 or Halifax Hawks Minor Hockey Association.
The family would also welcome any stories as a keepsake of memories in future years for his wife and son.
