

Quigley, James Edward (Jim) - (1929-2012) - passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on October 21, 2012. He was born April 3 in Montreal, Quebec, one of six children of the late William and Elizabeth (McCallum) Quigley. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Violet (Riley); son Derek (Laurie Ann) Quigley; daughters Dawn (Bruce) Vienneau and Diane (Colin) MacPhail; grandchildren Cara, Cameron, Carson, Laci, Emily, Katherine, Kavan, Kristina, Katelynn and Aaron; siblings Bill Quigley and Edna Rivers. Jim started his career as a teller at the age of 17 with the Toronto Dominion Bank in Montreal. After holding various positions he was then transferred in 1972 to Winnipeg as the Manager of the Main Branch. He was moved to Halifax in 1977 as the General Manager of the Atlantic Region where he ultimately retired as the Senior Vice-President Atlantic Division. Jim chose Halifax as his permanent home when he ended his career of 42 years with the bank. During Jim's career and his retirement he was a member of many boards including The Victorian Order of Nurses (both in Winnipeg and Halifax), Chairman of the Institute of Canadian Bankers, President of the Financial Executives Institute, as well as on the Board of Directors for Dartmouth Cable TV. Jim was also a past member of the Ashburn Golf Club and Halifax Club. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home 339 Lacewood Drive Halifax. Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 26, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Rockingham United Church, 12 Flamingo Drive Halifax with reception to follow.
