Hutton (Morrison), Janet Sewell - Passed away peacefully at the Halifax Infirmary after a brief illness, on Thursday, December 15, 2016. Janet was born in Burnt Church, New Brunswick on September 5, 1923. She was the daughter of Raymond and Frances (Anderson) Morrison and was predeceased by her brother Jerrold. She attended high school in Newcastle and earned her nursing degree at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. After graduation, she was employed as a nurse at the R.W. Large Memorial Hospital in Bella Bella, B.C. before being called home to New Brunswick to care for her ailing mother. After her marriage to Bill they moved frequently, beginning in St. Stephen, to Moncton, to Toronto, to Vancouver (twice), to Ottawa (three times), to London, England, and to Mississauga. Upon retirement Janet and Bill moved to Halifax to be closer to their children and their brand new granddaughter, where they ultimately settled on Spring Garden Road, spending many happy years in the heart of Halifax. They also spent a number of winters in beautiful St. Augustine, Florida; Janet glorying in the beach, Bill in the golf. Janet enjoyed painting, reading, gardening, exercise, (especially swimming), yard sales, the colour yellow, travel and spending time with family and friends at her family home in Burnt Church. She especially enjoyed people: always wanting to know where people were from and what their father’s name was. She made friends easily, and kept them close ever after. Her husband Bill passed away in 2009 after 59 years of marriage. They were a dynamic team, loving all aspects of living, laughing and entertaining, and she missed him every single day after his death. She is survived by daughters; Patricia Hutton and Martha Hutton (Bedford, NS), sons; Sandy (Susan ) Hutton (Waverley, NS), Mark Hutton (Port Coquitlam, BC) and grandchildren; Lauren Hutton (Vernon, BC), Sarah Hutton (Los Angeles, CA) and Peter Hutton (North Vancouver, BC). The family would like to thank the staff on the Geriatric Assessment unit of the Infirmary for their care and kindness to Janet. Special thanks to the fabulous team at Shannex Parkland who wrapped her into their amazing community. Cremation has already taken place. Visitation and a funeral service will take place in the chapel at J A Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax Monday December 19, 2016 at 1 PM. A private family burial service will be held at a later date. Donations to The War Amps in Mum's memory would be appreciated.
