Born on October 9th, 1946, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Jeannette was the only child of the late Harold and Linda (Landry) Holland. Jeannette grew up in Halifax, where she attended the Sacred Heart School. A dedicated employee of the Federal Government for 31 years, she began her career as an employment counsellor and later served as the Chief of Staffing in the Regional Office.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Jeannette was known for her kind heart and compassion for others; she expressed concern and care for all those around her. Jeannette held a special place in her heart for all animals, but particularly Tula and Oreo. In retirement, Jeannette found enjoyment visiting the valley of Nova Scotia, having tea/coffee with friends, finding treasures at yard sales, reading, and watching movies.
Jeannette cherished her extended family connections in Halifax, Cape Breton, and Ontario. Jeannette is survived by her husband of 48 years, Rick; her two daughters, Jennifer, and Stephanie (Tim); her granddaughter, Atlas Russell; extended family, Jason Russell (Karen); sister-in-law, Barbara DeBaie (Bob); nieces and nephews, Bruce Chisling (Christine), Kelly Hatcher (Berk), and Sarah Poirier (Shawn); great nieces and nephews, Joseph Chisling (Lauren), Ashley Chisling (Jacob), Alyssa Chisling-Walton (Timothy), Megan-Rose Chisling, Victoria McLellan (Brad), and Roland Poirier.
A memorial service for Jeannette will be held at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, on Monday April 22nd, 11:00 am.
