Joan Mary Mills

MILLS, Joan Mary (Duggan) - We are so sad to announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Joan Mills on March 13, 2012. She was born in 1930 to Stanley and Catherine (Christian) Duggan. She grew up in White’s Lake until she met our Father, Bud Mills who was the love of her life. She had a wit about her that you could not forget and everyone loved her. She was very social and never missed her card club, bingo and bowling and she loved to dance. We will never forget all the laughs and the fun times we had together. Joan is predeceased by her husband Charles (Bud), brothers Frank and Murray and sister Cecilia. She is survived by her son Timmy, daughters Carol (Sergio), Francie (Steve), Joanie (Michael) and daughter-in-law Suzanne; grandchildren Cheryl (David), Tom, Stevie (Angie), Lee (Terrylee), Sarah (Stephen), Katey, Corey and Connor; great-grandchildren Brittany, Brandon, Morgan and Tiffany. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will follow at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax (902) 455-0531 on Saturday, March 17th at 10:00 a.m. We would like to acknowledge and heartfully thank the caregivers at Melville Lodge for the love you showed our mother, especially “Shelly”, Sonja, Martha, Joyce and all that were so caring, you don’t know how much that meant to us. Also, we want to thank the nurses and doctors of the 9th floor of the Geriatric Ward at the Abbey Lane Hospital that took such good care of mom at the end; it gave us such comfort. We would also like to thank Dr. Rockwood who sat with us on that terrible Friday and explained what was happening to our mother, it gave us at least a way to prepare for what was unfolding.
