Joan Marie Mitchell

She was educated in Halifax at Tower Road School, Gorsebrook Junior High, Queen Elizabeth High, and Halifax Regional Vocational, receiving her Secretarial Degree.

She was a member of the All Saints Cathedral, Halifax, where she took part in many groups when she was young.

Joan was employed by the Province of Nova Scotia, with the Department of Education, doing accounting and purchasing for 37 years.

Joan loved to travel, going on bus tours in Canada, the United States, and Europe. She loved nature, arts and crafts, and sports. She was proud of her Irish heritage. She is survived by Godson Paul and Goddaughter Roxanne, many cousins, and friends.

Service to be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, Lacewood Drive, on Monday, September 26, at 2PM. There will be no visitation by Joan’s request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or by being kind to someone in need.

Burial to take place in family plot in Fairview Lawn Cemetery.
