68, West Chezzetcook
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of John “Pup” Hennessy, age 68, on Saturday, March 1st, 2014, at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital in Musquodoboit Harbour.
He was born in Halifax, N.S. on June 19th, 1945, and was the son of the late Harold and Margaret (Robson) Hennessy. He was employed with the Halifax Regional School Board as a plumbing foreman until his retirement.
Pup enjoyed gardening, traveling, playing games with friends and family and sharing his many jokes, funny sayings and stories at family gatherings. He was often found tinkering with and exploring new gadgets, trying to fix anything that needed fixing. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was truly a family man and especially enjoyed our weekly family dinners, followed by him and Ang beating Linda and Pete in a good game of crib and giving Cali some loving belly rubs.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Linda (Murphy) Hennessy; stepson, Peter MacIvor; daughter-in-law, Angela MacIvor; aunts, Eleanor Hennessy, Marjorie Keddy, Ruth Purcell and Sister Mary Stanislaus; many in-laws, friends and his beloved fur baby Cali.
There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at Saint Anselm Church, West Chezzetcook on Saturday, March 8th, at 11a.m. Burial to take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
