On July 24, 2023 Joe left us after tragically being injured a diving accident. Joe was just 52 years young but made the most of all his time on earth. Always smiling and laughing, he loved family, friends and good times especially near the ocean where he felt most like himself. Sun on his face, enjoying the sand and water. He worked hard and played hard and was a lifelong friend to many. The day of the accident he was with those friends who he loved so much, smiling and laughing right up to him leaving us.
Joe will be forever missed my many but the loss to his family is immeasurable. He loved his wife like they were only born to be together. It was love at first sight and together every day since. A day did not go by without him saying I love you and he got the same love in return. He was the rock, the safe place, he was just everything to his family, Lisa, Garrett and Carter.
Garrett was the light of his life, always proud of him, always calling or texting him and wanted him close and treasured every minute they spent together. Garrett was the pride of Joe’s life and he made sure he knew that, their bond unbreakable. Carter joined Joe’s life along with Lisa and they often became a team in mischief. Joe made sure Carter picked up lots of bad habits and broke lots of rules.
Joe was born in Glace Bay and predeceased by his father, Donald MacLeod and a brother Kevin Dwayne MacLeod in childhood. Left behind is his wife, Lisa Fiander, boys Garrett MacLeod and Carter Brown as well as his daughter, Meghan Thoms-Devlin, his mother Marilyn MacLeod, sisters Mary Ann Belec, Sherry Crocetti (Mike,), Kathy MacLeod, Michelle MacNeil (John), brother Donald MacLeod as well many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and a service is not planned. To honor Joey’s memory make sure you say I love you often, make time for fun, sneak in bit of mischief, take a chance and live a big life because that’s what he did.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.JASnowFuneralHome.com for the MacLeod family.
