Joseph Albert Spampinato

Spampinato, Joseph Albert – 53 of Halifax passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 2, 2016 at the Halifax Infirmary. Born in Bronx, N.Y. on February 24, 1963, he is the son of Carl and Aleta Spampinato. He is the Vice President of Via Consultants and involved with Shelter N.S. and A.S.U.G. Organization. He loved playing golf, reading, music, playing pool and was a proud graduate of Fordham University of New York and Dalhousie University.

Along with his parents, he is survived by the mother of his children Helene (MacIntyre) Spampinato and his greatest joy in life, his children Katie and Matthew. He enjoyed doing various things with them from going to Matthew's hockey games, symphonies with Katie, travelling, going to the movies and restaurants. He took pride in not only being a great father, but an amazing mentor, educator, and somebody that you could talk to about anything. Always more than happy to have family gatherings for holidays and parties, he was a very social, fun spirit. Joe will always be remembered as a very strong, intelligent, loving, and honest man that didn’t even let the fight for 5 1/2 hard years against lung cancer get in the way of his empathetic personality and great sense of humour. He was a huge inspiration, not letting the battle hold him back from providing for his family and doing everything he could for his loved ones. His love for his family is what drove him to fight so hard; Joe was and will always be a true hero to his family.

Visitation for Joe will be held on Sunday November 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at J.A. Snow Funeral Home 339 Lacewood Dr. Halifax. A Funeral Mass will be held on November 7 at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Parish, 18 Scholars Rd, Upper Tantallon at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lung Cancer Canada.
