It is with great sadness that the family of Kathleen Jardine, announce her passing on December 30, 2024. She passed away peacefully in her home in Bedford with her loving family by her side after a courageous, inspiring battle with pancreatic cancer. Her family offers a heartfelt thanks to the many healthcare professionals and friends who provided such amazing care and support to Kathleen through this difficult time.
Born in Halifax, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Gerry and Molly (Kane) Mulcahy.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 30 years, Richard; her beloved sons Nathan (Paige), Matthew and Scott; her sister Maureen (Paul) Hickey and brother Dan (Barb) Mulcahy; nephews and nieces Tim (Cassie) Hickey, Kyle (Kelly) Hickey, Kai and Joe Mulcahy.
Kathleen graduated in 1986 from Dalhousie University with degrees in Psychology and Commerce. She then went on to a long and fulfilling career in the food industry, retiring from Lindt Chocolate in 2021. Kathleen took a 10 year pause in her career to focus her energy and time on the focal point of her life - her beloved sons.Kathleen enjoyed a very full and active life. During her all too brief retirement, she was able to enjoy some wonderful travel adventures.
She enjoyed biking and walks while making new friends and enjoying the company of old friends on the golf course and through her latest passion, pickleball. After years of involvement with three busy sport fanatic sons, Kathleen decided that after their minor sport days ended, she wanted to maintain the sport bond another way. As luck would have it, her decision to become a KC Chiefs football fan coincided with the start of their great run. Being a huge Taylor Swift fan, the world was perfect for her when she too became a fan.
14 years ago, Kathleen won a brave and determined battle with breast cancer. In recent years she supported a good friend who won that same battle. Through that she became a member of the Bosom Buddies paddling club for breast cancer survivors. She took great pleasure in that wonderful combination of sport, friendship, and support.
Above all else, Kathleen was a giver. She had a natural gift for listening and selflessly providing support and counsel to her family and dear friends. She always found time to have wonderful and meaningful conversations. Often adding touches of her beautiful sense of humour. Kathleen had such a very kind heart and gentle soul.
There will be a family goodbye at a later date at Lakeside Beach in PEI. Kathleen enjoyed such wonderful family times there, starting in childhood and continuing through her entire life.
