

Born in Halifax, in 1928, to Alexander Robertson and Florence May (Power) Robertson, he received his early education at St. Mary’s College High School, completed undergraduate studies at Saint Mary’s University, and theology at Holy Heart Seminary, all in Halifax. Kenneth Robertson was ordained to priesthood by Most Rev. J. G. Berry, D.D. in 1958 at St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica. Father Ken served as assistant priest in the Halifax parishes of St. Patrick’s, St. Catherine of Siena, St. Mary’s Cathedral and St. Joseph’s. He was an assistant at Immaculate Conception in Truro and St. Genevieve’s, East Chezzetcook. He was Pastor at St. Paul the Apostle, River Hebert, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Prospect, St. Paul’s, Dartmouth, Star of the Sea, Terence Bay, St. Augustine’s, Chester and Immaculate Conception, Dartmouth. He also served as Administrator of St. Brigid’s Parrsboro. He retired from full-time ministry in 1995. In his retirement, he lived at St. Theresa’s and St. Agnes’ Rectories. Father Ken had a great love for music, and was a gifted organist; he played during the annual Priests’ Retreats, and other parish and liturgical events. Father Ken is survived by his sisters, Rita Ringhofer, Texas and Sister Helen Robertson, R.G. S., Toronto, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Fr. Lloyd, Gerald, Ronald, Laurie, Elliott and Cecil, and his sister, Jean Blackman. Visitation will be in St. Agnes Church, Mumford Road in Halifax, on Thursday, December 18th from 2:30-5 p.m., followed by the Evening Prayer Vigil at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Agnes at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 19th, Archbishop Anthony Mancini presiding. A reception will follow and then committal in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth. Funeral arrangements are in the care of J.A.
