Age 43, born November 1, 1971, passed away peacefully with loving family and friends by her side Sunday January 25th. Kim silently suffered and courageously fought cancer for the past two years during which time she continued to provide as much love, care and direction to her family as she always had done before her illness. To the many friends from Kim and Ron's immediate neighbourhood, friends from away, to Kim and Ron's work, health care services and palliative care the family extends a sincere thank you. Your support was and continues to be overwhelming. Kim completed her elementary and junior high school at Rockingham School. Kim enjoyed being a member of Canadian Girl Guides. With some of her close friends Kim achieved her Girl Guide All-Around Cord. She spent much time studying music in school and at home. She tested herself by way of Halifax Conservatory Music. She graduated from Halifax West High School in Fairview. Kim balanced academics and athletics participating in many school sports. Away from school Kim loved soccer, skating, swimming and kayaking. Kayaking was her passion. Through her association and competing in kayaking Kim made many good friends and new acquaintances. In Calgary at the 1988 Canada Summer Games she and her kayaking friends were very successful. Kim competed in four events winning three silver and one bronze place finishes. Back from Calgary Kim retired from kayaking as she wanted to concentrate more on completing her last year of high school and she sought a more balanced social life. Kim enjoyed many summers coaching and training younger paddlers from various Halifax paddling clubs. Kim completed her formal education at Dalhousie University earning BSc Degrees in both Kinesiology and Physiotherapy. She started her physiotherapy career with best friend and future husband Ron Savoie in Virginia, USA. They resided in Lynchburg for four years. Kim and Ron returned to Halifax, got married and raised three beautiful children, the love of their lives. Kim continued to practice physiotherapy in Halifax employed by QE II Health Science Centre, Parkstone Enhanced Care, Physio Care at Home and St. Vincent's Guest Home. Kim made an extra effort to keep their children involved in summer activities doing much the same things which she had enjoyed during her school years. Kim and Ron balance children's summer activities at the Maskwa Aquatic Boat Club, soccer and baseball fields, the family summer cottage on Big Mushamush Lake, visiting Ron's family in New Brunswick and camping at Kedji and PEI. With Ron's help, Kim was becoming a good gardener inspired by her desire to eat healthy and her love for the out-of-doors. We will remember Kim's tidiness, organization skills, her promptness, her eagerness to teach and instil, to volunteer any free time, and always putting her concern and consideration for others before herself, always having a big and warm smile. She will forever be remembered and sadly missed by all whom she has touched. Kim is survived by loving husband Ron, loving children Annie, Ella and Gavin, parents Romaine and Lorna Jane (Romkey) Cook, brother Michael (Annie Fafard) Cook, sister Julie (Santos Pash) Cook, father-in-law Paul Savoie (friend Marie Mai Pitre), brother-in-law Donald (Doreen MacMillan) Savoie, sister- in-law Theresa (Savoie)(Mike Spray), many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.
