I still can hear Lena’s sweet and dignified voice in my head. No one will ever take her place at a game of “farkle” either! She is resting peacefully !

I was blessed to meet Lena (and Bob of course) five years ago at GG. We had a lot of good times together and Lena and I hit it off. We played a lot of Farkle and shared recipes. She talked a lot of her family and was dedicated to them. I will miss her company. My condolences to all of her family. Her mother and son are in my prayers.

So many fond memories of Lena - from when we were small children, spending at least a couple of weeks every summer together (she taught me how to smoke, how to ride the trolley, so much about fashion,  we shared our first crushes, and on and on), We double dated a lot  when we were older.  I have a lot of brothers and sisters, but she was like another sister and a great friend.  I will miss her even though we did not see very much of each other in the latter years.  Recently we had reconnected and I was so looking forward to spending time with her again.  I am sad for myself as well as for her family. 
Such a great person.  We were all blessed to have had her in our lives!   RIP my great friend!

We have so many fond memories of our time in Florida with Lena and Bob.  Even though Lena suffered a broken heart over these many months she still managed to have her beautiful smile ready for friends.  She was a big part of our Florida family, which extended to Ontario and the east coast.  We will miss her company and good friendship.  And please don’t pronounce scallops incorrectly.  Hopefully, she and Bob are once again walking hand in hand.

It was a sad message to learn of Lena’s death. I know how devoted she was to her mom, as we often met at Ivany Place, where my mother also lived.
Parting ways is difficult, however, the memories we have are always held within our hearts.




Mark and Family, 
I met Lena when I joined the HP Ottawa office.  Lena was a member of my team. Bob worked in the cubicle next to mine.  
It is hard to think about Lena without mentioning Bob.  They were such a perfect couple.  Lena would sign each email with, “Lena (and Bob, of course!)”  That became my salutation to them in subsequent messages.
I remember Lena as a lovely and gracious lady.  
Bob and Lena also lived in our Stittsville neighbourhood.  We shared many celebrations over those years and considered them extended members of our family.
Lena loved her own family very much and spoke of them often.  She was so proud of you, Mark, and all that you have achieved.  Lena also derived great joy from her grandchildren and took immense delight in watching their developments.  Her handle, “Nana Lee,” was a term of endearment that I am sure she enjoyed very much.
I remember preparing some remarks for Lena’s retirement after 32 years of service and turned to my then young children for advice.  Daniel’s summary statement was, “I like Lena!”  Kelly declared, “Lena is nice!”  Both remarks seemed spot on.
Years later, my wife Marjorie had passed away, I retired and moved to a condo in Westboro.  I reconnected with Bob and Lena over lunch during one of their visits here.  The next winter, I spent two delightful months at Gulf Gardens.   There were many fine meals by the pool, prepared by Lena and cooked on the BBQ by Bob, accompanied by ‘pails of wine.’  I will always remember their gracious hospitality and generosity.
There were also regular runs to Kohl’s on seniors day.  Lena was a skilled shopper and diligent coupon clipper.  One time she walked out with over $100 in merchandise without paying a cent, receiving a small refund in the process.
Lena welcomed Adrienne into my life over a wonderful dinner with her and Bob in Halifax.  
We will all miss Lena (and Bob, of course!) dearly.

Bob brought Lena into our lives almost 25 years ago. Since then we have spent many happy times together, in Halifax, Stittsville and Madeira Beach Florida.  She always wore her emotions on her sleeve. She could go from tears to laughter in an instant. Always fun to be with. 
You will be greatly missed Lena. 

Lena was totally dedicated to my brother Bob in his final months in hospital last fall - driving there if weather fair and foul and catering to his every need.
You will be greatly missed Lena.

 Condolences to Lena's family, especially Jennifer.  We met Lena several years ago when Bob shared his hobby of Amateur Radio with Bernie.  She was a lovely lady and, we enjoyed the many good times we spent with Lena and Bob.  I hope that you will be able to take some comfort from the wonderful memories that you cherish. I still cannot believe our lovely ,kind gentle Lena is gone. I've been lucky enough to be able to call her a friend. We went to curves together as well as many coffees and a few cocktails. I know how terribly sad she was to lose Bob recently so I truly hope she rests in peace.To her family and many friends I offer you my condolences. She will be sorely missed.

We first met Lena many years ago when she became the partner of our longtime friend Bob Swinwood.  Years later, we were thrilled to witness their garden wedding on a sunny afternoon in Victoria BC.  Over the last few decades we have, as a group, or singly, enjoyed many visits, road trips and, of course, copious quantities of wine!
Last year, we all lost Bob.  Now Lena has gone to join him —literally and metaphorically she has died of a broken heart!
Rest in peace, Lena ——-you will be missed!

Lena interviewed me for a position with Hewlett-Packard in 1972 and we worked side by side for the next 30 years until I retired.  During those times, we both traveled with each other attending conferences, seminars, training courses, the HP Christmas functions and HP picnics - taking pleasure in our working relationship and the friendship we developed.  We had a long journey having lots of fun and enjoying life.  

Over the years, I met her father, Louis, and her mother, Pauline.  Her father built our first home in Timberlea and Lena lived close by on the same street.  We traveled together to and from work for a period of time.   On our way home, we would pick up her son, Mark, at her mother's place.   We attended bridal/baby showers, weddings and lots of other events during those working years.  

Lena married her co-worker Bob Swinwood with whom I also had the pleasure of working with for most of those years.  They were the perfect couple and so extremely happy together.  It was with great sadness that Bob passed away in November of 2018.  I have fond memories of two wonderful people. 

My husband, Ken, and I would like to express sincere condolences to all members of the family.  Those we love can never be more than a thought away, for as long as there's a memory, they will always live in our hearts.    

To all of Lena’s family I can only say that Ron and I are so saddened by her sudden passing . We vacationed with Bob and Lena at Madeira Beach and so enjoyed her gentle ways . She was an excellent cook  and kept us well fed with her amazing appetizers. We had so much fun playing a game of dice and although Lena certainly loved to win, she was always the calm voice of reason. She truly loved her family and spoke of you all every day. 
Lena will be dearly missed and spoken of kindly.

Dear Mark and family,

We are so shocked and saddened to hear of Lena's passing. As you know Lena and I attended Mount St. Vincent Academy together in the 1960's and Fern and I also vacationed at Gulf Gardens at the same time as she and Bob. Lena was such a kind, gentle person. She was a fabulous cook too. We always looked forward to the appetizers she would share around the pool. Her family was everything to her. She spoke of you and her Grandchildren all the time and shared her pictures like the proud Grandmother she always was. We would have tried to get our Mount friends together in September but now, one less.

I will remember Lena always. God Bless you Mark and all the family.❤️
