

Madelyn Marie (Dauphinee) Welton, age 84 of Halifax. It is with great sadness the family of Madelyn "Maddie" Welton announces her passing on Friday, January 22, 2016 in St. Vincent’s Nursing Home, in a room full of love and family at her side.
Born in Halifax on January 5, 1932, Maddie was the beloved daughter of the late Guy and Mercedes (Barber) Dauphinee.
She was employed for a short time with Imperial Oil in Halifax before becoming a very devoted wife to Jim, an awesome mother of four, a fabulous grandmother to ten and a great grandmother to four. She enjoyed a full life that included dancing, bowling, bridge club and entertaining friends and family at home and at her cottage in Hackett’s Cove.
She is survived by daughters, Cheri (Jim) Fletcher and their sons, Tim (Hannah) and Tony (Rebekah); Karyn Welton and her daughter, Kailey DeMone, Debby (Mike) Herman and their sons; Dana (Meghan) and Scott, her son, David (Ruth) Welton and his sons, Kristian (Tanya), Brad and Jason, his daughter, Jennifer Welton, and great grandchildren, Emily, Aidan, Emma and Rowan. She is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Dauphinee, Nancy (Innes) Boutilier, brothers, David, Graham (Marilyn), Ken Dauphinee and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by Jim, her loving husband of 40 years; her sister, Frances Hutt; brothers, Robert and John (Skip); grandson, Marc Fletcher, and great grandson, Alexander Welton.
Her family would like to thank the terrific staff at St. Vincent Nursing Home for the wonderful care she received in the last years of her life.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 28th from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm and a service to celebrate her life to be held on Friday, January 29th at 11am at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr, Halifax.
In lieu of flowers donations can be sent in her name to St. Vincent’s Nursing Home or a charity of your choice.
