In Loving Memory of Margaret Anne Fraser (nee Stewart)

We wish to announce that our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Margaret Anne Fraser, passed away peacefully on January 9th, 2026, at the age of 85. She was surrounded by her devoted husband of 63 years, Graeme, along with their daughters and grandchildren.

Margaret Anne is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Graeme Fraser; her twin daughters, Michelle (Steven Mueller) of Vancouver and Sherri (Mark D’Arcangelo) of Saratoga, California; and her grandchildren, Anike and Kalina (Michelle) and Kiarra and Kaedan (Sherri).

Anne and Graeme were married on September 22, 1962, in Saint John, N.B. They lived throughout the Maritimes, including P.E.I., Amherst, Truro, Dartmouth, and Bedford. In August 2018, they moved to Parkland at the Gardens in Halifax, where they spent their remaining years together as true life partners - side by side, supporting each other through adventures and activities, and sharing quiet moments hand in hand.

Although Anne lived with Parkinson’s for more than four decades and dementia for 12 years, she led an accomplished professional life. With her caring nature and love of people, she began her career in nursing after graduating from the Saint John General Hospital in 1962, later transitioned into occupational health and safety, and by the early 1990s had risen to a Vice President of Human Resources position. She presented nationally, held board memberships, and received numerous awards. She was recognized as an “initiator and change-maker” for starting programs that improved the lives of others, including daycare for the disabled, workplace smoking cessation initiatives, and employee assistance programs.

Anne was also known for her sense of style and flair, as well as her love of adventure and travel. This inspired many trips with Graeme to destinations around the world, including Japan, Europe, the Caribbean, and New Zealand. They especially cherished visits with their grandchildren in Vancouver and California.

Above all, Anne was a caring, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who valued family and relationships most. She showed unwavering dedication to her daughters and four grandchildren and embraced being “Grandma,” sharing songs, stories, and lots of laughs and adventures that often ended with “yummy ice cream treats.” She loved bringing people together, creating lasting memories with family and friends, especially through gatherings at the family cottage at Shortts Lake.

Anne’s strength, resilience, determination, and sense of humor were admired by her family and by everyone who knew her. She always knew how to look on the sunny side, and her infectious smile, creativity, and zest for life were an inspiration to us all.

We are immensely grateful for the years we shared together and cherish the love and memories she gave us. She will be greatly missed, lovingly remembered, and held forever in our hearts.

A family celebration of Anne’s life will be held this summer. In her memory, donations may be made to Parkinson Canada (donate.parkinson.ca), the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (give.michaeljfox.org), or a charity of your choice.
