Kydd, Margaret Cecile, age 97, of Halifax, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 18, 2015. She was the daughter of Cecil and Venita Churchill of Windsor. She was predeceased by her husband, Hewson, and by her sister, Anna Shupe and is survived by sons, Bill (Patti), Halifax, Don (Carol), Halifax, grandchildren, David (Moncton), Jocelyn Schnare (Andrew) Kentville, Michael (Patsy) Moncton, James, (Alana) Halifax, and Jennifer Kydd (Thomas Matheson), Halifax; step-grandchildren, Shona Waddell (Doug Luce) Calgary, and Cameron Waddell, Montreal; great-grandchildren, Morgan Schnare, and Eric Schnare, Kentville, Connor Kydd, Maria Kydd, and Sophia Kydd, all of Moncton, Marlowe Matheson and Gavin Kydd, all of Halifax, and Joshua and Trevor Luce of Calgary; sister-in-law, Peggy of Bridgewater, and nieces and nephews, Alan Kydd (Sandy) Moncton, Susan Haynes (Martin) Moncton, Elizabeth Ryan (Michael), Halifax, Ann Boutilier (Bob), Halifax, and Rick Kydd (Pam) Bridgewater. Cecile lived a very happy and fulfilling life up until her passing. She cherished her independence which particularly blossomed at age 72 when out of necessity, because of Hewson’s disability, she finally had to get her driver’s license. She continued to live at home by herself up until the time of her death. Her optimism was demonstrated when she purchased a new car at age 92. She had an amazing memory and was the family’s resource for information about anything and anyone. She loved to discuss politics and set a high standard for the government of the day. Jimmy Carter was the only president to ever receive her continuing stamp of approval. She loved to play bridge and with the support of neighbours was able to continue to play until recently. Most of all she loved interacting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was described by one as the “caring matriarch of the entire family”. We all recognize and celebrate our good fortune for having had her with us so long. Arrangements are under the care of J.A. Snow Funeral home, Halifax. A memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
