Marguerite was born in the Forties Settlement, Lunenburg County. She was part of a well-known singing trio called the Meister Sisters and passed on those musical talents to her children and grandchildren, some of whom are performers and recording artists today.
She met the love of her life, John (Jack) Rolfe of Halifax at the Forties Dancehall, where he organized movies and dances every weekend. Marguerite and Jack were married and led an adventurous and loving life together for 73 years. Marguerite was a supportive and loving spouse and a dedicated mother to 6 children. The family embraced military life and experienced 15 towns and cities across Canada and Germany before settling permanently in Halifax.
Marguerite and Jack built a cottage on Sherbrooke Lake, Nova Scotia, which they called home and enjoyed for 25 wonderful years. The peacefulness and surroundings of this beautiful setting was often the inspiration to her renowned and prolific poetry. Her poems were published in several local magazines and shared with family and friends.
