
Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, the youngest daughter of Francis (Frank) J. and Marion (Shea) Murphy. She received her high school education in Sydney at
Holy Angels Convent School and subsequently attended Mount St. Bernard, St Francis Xavier University. She graduated from the Nursing School of the Montreal General Hospital and was chosen from the graduating class to staff the new Western Division of the Montreal General Private Pavilion, nursing there until her marriage in 1941.
During the war she worked as a volunteer at the Red Cross Blood Donor Clinic. The family moved to Halifax in 1954 and she became a member of the Victoria General Auxiliary and the Saint Mary’s University Auxiliary. She was a devout parishioner of Canadian Martyrs Parish for many years.
Predeceased by her beloved husband John, daughter Deirdre Wandler, sisters Constance and Geraldine Murphy, RSCJ and baby brother Frank in infancy.
Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Mary (Napier) Levins, granddaughter Courtney, son-in-law Joseph Wandler all of Calgary, grandson Todd (Jody), and great grandsons Napier and Samuel of Victoria, BC.
Final arrangements and cremation will take place under the direction of J.A. Snow Funeral Home with a celebration of Marion’s life to take place at a future date. Private interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Cancer Society or charity of choice.
