

Marion ‘Claire’ Nicholson Pictou / Halifax With heavy hearts and wonderful memories, the family of Marion ‘Claire’ Nicholson announces her sudden and unexpected passing on October 10, 2023. Born April 22, 1935 in Pictou, she was the youngest daughter of Edwin and Kate (Cutten) MacDonald. Having been raised in Pictou, she was always proud of her roots and returned for many summers to spend time with family and friends at the family cottage at Seacrest. She was also a proud Mount Allison University (1953) alumnus, having met her husband of 61 years there and together they enjoyed many reunions over the years. She is survived by her children, Gail (Mark) Finniss, Bedford; Scott (Debbie), Braeshore; and Steven (Lynn), Ottawa. Also by her grandchildren Brian (Lauren) Finniss, Jeff (Ashley) Finniss; Colin (Christina) NIcholson, Mike (Erin) Nicholson; Haley, Jacob and Sam Nicholson. She also has 9 great grandchildren who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her husband Blenis in 2017, her youngest grandchild, Hannah in 2020, her only sibling Heather Wentzell and by her parents.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 18, at 2:00 pm at Rockingham United Church in Halifax. A reception in the church to follow after the service. Family flowers only please. If so desired, donations can be made to Crohns and Colitis, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Souls Harbour Mission in Halifax.
