It is with deepest sadness and loss, that we announce the peaceful passing of Patricia Butler, 83, on December 28, 2021 at the Veteran’s Memorial Building of Camp Hill Hospital, Halifax. Born January 5th,1938, Pat was a daughter of the late Edward K. Clarke and Dorothy (Feetham) Clarke. Mom lived with grace and her light encompassed all who knew her. Her kind soul and generous nature knew no limits. We are grateful for her love and life.
Pat was a long time employee of Mount St. Vincent University where her last role was as Executive Assistant to the President of the University, and Secretary to its Board of Governors. During her busy career at the Mount, Pat also attained her Bachelor of Arts Degree while studying part time and raising her family. Today, there is still an award named in her honour for a Mature Student. Her name can also be found on the Riva Spatz Women’s Wall of Honour at MSVU.
Pat’s love of life was highlighted by her devotion to, and support of her family: siblings, children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter. In her “spare” time Pat loved reading, music, following figure skating, and spending time at her beloved Black Point cottage with family.
Pat is survived by brother Bob Clarke, sister in law Barb Murphy, daughter Kerry MacDonald, sons Grey (Shelley) and Glenn Butler; grandchildren: Colin and Kevin MacDonald, Alexander and Bryan Taylor (their siblings Jordi and Olivia), Margaret and Rebecca White; great granddaughter Breah MacDonald, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Pat was also predeceased by her husband; Denis Butler, and siblings Dorothy Ann Clarke, Marjorie Landry, Eddie Clarke, Dan Clarke, Catherine Levangie, and Mary Clarke.
Due to COVID restrictions, there will be a private family memorial service by invitation only. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
Special thanks to the staff of 4East at the Veterans Memorial Building for their excellent care of Mom.
