

The family of Mary Velma Carlos (Fraser) wish to announce her death on January 13, 2017 at the Moncton Hospital. She died peacefully with her loving family at her side. Mary was born in Halifax on November 22nd 1916 to Fred and Flora (MacKay) Fraser.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Camille Carlos, sons, Peter and Roy Carlos, sisters, Ruby (Cole), Flora (MacMillan), Net (Conrad) and brother Ken Fraser. Mary is survived by her sons, Paul (Gloria) of Florida, Hugh (Joan) of Peterborough ON, John (Donna) of Oakville ON, her daughter, Mary Anne (Wayne) of Moncton NB, and daughter in law, Marg of Halifax, NS. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, one nephew and several nieces.
Mary was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed knitting, reading, gardening, travel, and time spent with her family. Her house on Purcell’s Cove Road in Halifax, where she lived for 67 years, was always welcoming to family and friends. Visitors usually enjoyed a home cooked meal or some of her delicious baking. They often left with a pair of her knitted mittens or dish cloths. Mary was a longstanding member of St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Halifax where she was an active member of the CWL for many years. Mary moved to Riverview, NB, in June of 2015 following a brief illness and lived in McNair Manor.
Her family would like to thank the staff at McNair Manor in Riverview, NB, as well as the staff in the orthopedics and palliative care units at the Moncton Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care.
Funeral arrangements are being conducted by J.A. Snows Funeral Home in Halifax. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 16 from 2-4 and 7-9pm in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr. Halifax. A funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, January 17, at St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Purcell’s Cove Road, in Halifax, followed by a reception in the parish hall.
