

We bid farewell to Mary Fowler a very special mother, wife, sister , grandmother, great grandmother and dear friend to many.Mary passed away peacefully on November 27th, 2024 leaving behind a lifetime of special memories and achievements.
Mary was born in Sydney, N.S. on March 18th,1929 to the late Albert(Margaret MacKeigan) Horne. She grew up on the family farm on the banks of the Mira River with her brother John and her sister Marjorie. After graduating from high school,Mary attended Teachers College in Truro . She started teaching in North Sydney where she met her husband Ted Fowler and together they had one son, Scott Fowler.
Mary and Ted moved to Halifax where they purchased their home on Tremont Drive in Rockingham. Mary taught for 30 years at Rockingham School where she was a teacher, vice- principal and principal.
Following retirement Mary continued to teach and help children by volunteering at the I.W.K. for 35 years. Mary was an active member of Calvin Presbyterian Church, Rockingham Heritage Society, Retired Teachers Association the Halifax and Dartmouth Ladies Shrine Clubs.
Mary and Ted enjoyed their life together. They travelled, spent many hours gardening, and driving to Cape Breton to visit with family, friends and spending time at their cottage. Most of all, they loved spending time with their granddaughters and great grandchildren.
Mary is survived by daughter-in-law Kelly Fowler, granddaughter’s Lauren ( Brett) Richardson, Brittany ( Josh) Hennessy, great grandchildren Adelyn,Hugh, Theodore and Stuart, brother John( Shirley) Horne, nephews Matthew and Andrew Horne and their families, and her niece Janie Lee Silas. Mary was predeceased by her husband Ted Fowler, son Scott Fowler and her sister Marjorie Horne.
A celebration of a wonderful 95 years of life will take place at a later date in the spring.
