It is with profound sadness, seven heavy hearts announce the passing of our mother, Mary Lorraine Meehan, Halifax, at home surrounded by her loving family on May 10, 2011, after a prolonged period of ill health. She was the oldest daughter of the late Thomas Edward Little and Olive May Little (Slaunwhite) of Terence Bay. She was predeceased by her husband and best friend of 63 years, John Joseph Meehan (March 15, 2009) and her only son John Edward (June 15, 1959).
Mom was a devoted homemaker for 66 years. She was a member of the St. Catherine’s CWL for 25 years. She enjoyed a good cup of tea, a game of crib and attending her church bingo. She raised seven daughters who are forever grateful for her selfless devotion to us and our dad, whom Mom nursed through several years of ill health. Her family was her life’s work. She was greatly admired for her strength of character, thoughtfulness, patience, wisdom, and great sense of humour.
Mary is survived by her seven daughters: Helen (Joachim Patil), Georgina (Lloyd Stone), Sue Morriscey(Anthony Kelly), Laura (Darrell Joseph), Sandra Meehan(Ashraf Ismail), Patti (Kelly Nickerson), and Elizabeth (Keith Buchanan). Grandchildren; Jonathan, Andrew, Anjuli, Rebecca, Tony, Angela, Jeffrey, Nicole, George, Taya, Megan, Leah and Great-grandchildren: Sophie, Lilia, and Rylan. Sisters: Gladys Slaunwhite (Sonny), Gertrude Hardiman (Gordon), Linda Nicholson (Robert). She was predeceased by brothers Frederick and Raymond Little.

“Girls - Time has taken me from you, although not very far. If you ever wonder where, first look inside your heart. That’s where I know I’ll be as you remember me.
Love - Mom”
