Mike was born in Halifax on July 5th, 1946. Mike worked in the music industry for over 35 years as a road manager, booking agent and doing sound and lights for many east coast musicians. Mike brought a lot of talent from Toronto to Halifax and helped many successful artists get their start. Mike participated as a judge for the Juno Awards, was a top performing agent at every agency he worked at and was respected and trusted in the industry. When he retired from the music industry he worked at The Shore Club in Hubbards, cooking lobsters with a smile.
Mike was an aficionado of the Blues. He loved having BIG fun with his friends and camping with his daughter and friends. He lived at the beach year round, splitting his time between Hubbards, Nova Scotia and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Mike lived life to the fullest and was happiest on the beach, driving his convertible and spending time with his loved ones.
Mike is survived by his daughter; Rachel Shepherd, his siblings Nancy Shepherd, Mark Shepherd, Sheilagh Sims and Debbie Chisholm, nieces and nephews including his loving niece Lisa Stewart. Mike adored his godson, Nicholas Wylie. Mike’s friends were like his family and he loved them all dearly. He made and kept friends everywhere he went. Mike is preceded in death by his parents; Jack and Mary (Tobin) Shepherd. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am, February 19th at JA Snow Funeral Home. A memorial will be held July 5th on Hubbards Beach followed by a party to celebrate Mike by rockin’ out at The Shore Club.
A special thank you to the staff at the Foothills Medical Centre, Unit 36 for caring for Mike, and supporting his family, during his illness.
