My dear friend.  It has been a year since your passing.  I think of you often . I miss our phone calls and short visits. Even when you were down I could always make you laugh.  I miss all of those special moments.  Rest in peace my friend,  you are always in my thoughts.  Miss you.

Michelle's funeral brought closure but needless to say, the heartache lives on.  I feel so sorry for you and your families.  She loved each and everyone of you so very much and often  spoke of you.  It took awhile with such a big family but I finally worked out who was who!

When I heard of  Michelle's passing I did not trip down memory lane but did a free fall right back to Grasmere crescent! oh the memories came flooding back. How blessed we are to have known her. She may have passed away but we can keep her legacy alive. Do something kind everyday and always make somebody laugh. Don't worry Michelle there aren't any thunderstorms in heaven. 



I am saddened to hear of Michelle's passing.  Although I only knew her through my work, she was a wonderful lady who I will always remember.  She always made me laugh and was never without a smile.  My condolences to all of Michelle's family.

I am saddened to learn of Michelle's passing. I worked with Michelle for many years at the Coast Guard and DFO. She was such a sweet person and we enjoyed our little chats often.  Whenever we ran into each other after we retired, her comment to me was " Do you ever age" and we would enjoy a good laugh. May you all be comforted by the precious memories you have of your time with Michelle.  God Bless you All , You are in my Prayers and thoughts.

I am very saddened to learn of Michelle's passing. We used to travel together from Dartmouth to Halifax every Tuesday evening to attend the Halifax Concert Band practices for quite a few years.  There was a small group of us that would meet each year  in downtown Halifax   and dine at one of the restaurants and then attend a performance of the Tattoo. I believe Lorraine joined us for this once or twice. Michelle's sense of humour was always on full display but I also remember her keen sense of fairness and justice.  My deepest condolences to all the family and friends of which there are many.

Our deepest condolences to Gillian, Jan, Beverly, Lorraine and family. Michelle and I have been friends for over 50 years. We grew up together and enjoyed many fun memories. Michelle was such a beautiful and kind soul. My family and I always looked forward to her visits. Michelle had a great sense of humour and always knew how to tell a great story. Her visits always included a trip to the Ottawa Byward Market where we would enjoy our favourite chocolate almond croissant. The visit would not be complete without seeing "mamma". She was a dear friend who will forever be in our hearts. We were lucky to have known someone as special as Michelle. May you all find peace knowing that you have a beautiful angel watching over you. To quote the theme song of one of her favourite shows, the Golden Girls, "Thank you for being a friend...". Rest in peace, Michelle. Dear Michelle…  so many good memories come to mind when thinking of you. The day you asked me to cut your hair short. Both our parents were out and you got your mother’s scissors and sitting on your front door steps, I proceeded at the task…. Or when you asked me to pierce your ears saying I could that we only needed 2 ice cubes and a needle… me who was scared of blood.. and trembling in nearly fainting, Michelle would say:’’.. you could do it!… and… I don’t feel anything.. but also.. Is it done?’’… dear Michelle you were my best childhood friend. And what about the song ‘Sleepy Joe’’… drove your sister Lorraine and my sister Elizabeth crazy one hot summer’s night. My memories of Michelle go all the way back to Arvida, our dear neighbours have lost one of their own. Michelle was a lovely person with, as noted, a great sense of humour. Many memories in some of the pictures at 236 GL …the red strawberry barrel and Judy your dear dog. Sharing your grief, my sincere condolences to all of you and to my dearest childhood and present friend Lorraine.

I worked with Michelle since she came to Technical Services  CCG until she retired .We sat next to each other in front of the Directors Office for a period of time but I saw her daily .I used to tease her by  playing Bob Dylan on my computer. Bob was not one of her favourite musicians.But she had a good sense of humour about it

I'm so very sorry to read of the loss of your beloved Michelle. Like many, I have memories of her from work at DFO - she was funny, clever, and always - always - kind. May her memory always bring you all blessing and joy.

How sad it is that Michelle has passed. Living at extreme opposite ends of the country, it is many years since the last time we were together. Nevertheless I shall never forget Michelle’s smile and her infectious laughter. She was always read to use both at the drop of a hat; either that or roll her eyes when the joke didn’t quite measure up. 😃 

Most of all, Michelle was always ready to laugh at herself. An admirable quality for sure.  

Heartfelt condolences to all the Gailey clan and extended family. I know our kids especially will miss their kind and funny Aunt Mitch. 

Sincere sympathy to Michelle's family.  Many years ago Michelle and I both lived on Olivet Street and met while waiting at the bus stop.  Our places of work were close so we would meet for lunch on a regular basis.  She was a lovely person.

I sat in the front row of the Hfx. Concert Band and Michelle was behind me, just  to the left, in the 2nd row. I was lucky because it was easy to hear her lovely laugh from there, and she did like to laugh. She also smiled, a lot! and that sure comes through in all the photos. So does her joie de vivre. I am sure more than one glass will be raised in her memory the next time the band is able to get together for a social occasion. My sympathies to her family. That's the thing that really comes through in the photos, how much she loved you and how much you all love her.

I was one of her band mates in the Halifax Concert Band,- I sat about two chairs down from her in our part of the clarinet section. Her running joke was that her reed was the original one she started with when she joined the band "32 years ago" (reeds usually last a few months, maybe)!
She generally had such a good sound I thought maybe she didn't need any reed . . . she was the heart of her instrument!
She was also the "Social Director" on the board of our band society, and in many ways embodied the "joie de vivre" our members found through making music. We miss her.

I worked for many years with Michelle and often had 6 AM coffee with Steve Savoury and Michelle. She always had something to say and made us laugh with some of her stories and jokes. She intensely disliked thunder and lightning storms which, if occurring during working hours, would often find her moving away from the windows.

Michelle made a great addition to our office staff and was always ready to help anyone who asked.

My condolences to the Gailey family on the passing of Michelle.  I met Michelle while working at the Coast Guard.  We hit it off right away and when she learned I spoke French that was even better.  We enjoyed our Friday luncheons of Chinese food.  After she retired we continued keeping in touch and met for the occasional lunch.  Michelle was very brave  throughout her illness, I tried to encourage her and make her laugh.  She will be missed.  Rest in peace mon amie.

Dear Lorraine - I am sorry to read of your sister's passing. I think she was the sister you brought to our home here at Crooked Lake. We had such a nice day and good memories. My condolences to you and your sisters. 

Michelle and I met at uni (MSVU) where we graduated together in 1980 (photo). We were great buds there for 3 years. Unfortunately, we lost touch, only to find each other 40-ish years later at an aqua fit class.  It was her voice that I recognized.  Since that day,  we didn't miss a beat keeping in touch, seeing each other at pool, going for lunches, visits at her place and mine, chats on the phone, comparing our guesses for The Masked Singer, etc. Eventually we ended up minding her fur baby Nemo a few times at our home in Portuguese Cove which Michelle nicknamed "Camp Porty". I am pleased to say that Nemo is now a permanent resident at Camp Porty.  Thanks for trusting us with your precious boy.
Shell, you are gone too soon my dear friend. Thank you for all the joy you've brought into my life.  Keep on singing my little Kato. I will always think of you when I watch a Pink Panther movie.  Much love from Paula Beed (& Dan Gooding)


Like Marilyn and Mary, I well remember Michelle's sharp wit and love of music.  She was a strong woman who seemed always to be on top of things.   I remember well her dislike of hot weather.  I seem to recall that she took a holiday in Labrador after Labour Day!  

I worked with Michelle at Coast Guard for many years.  She was always ready with a quip regarding anything that was going on at the time.  She loved music....had a great sense of humour and cared for others.  She will be missed by those who knew her.  Rest in peace my friend.  Sending deepest condolences to her friends and family at this time. 

I worked with Michelle at Canadian Coast Guard for about 15 years.  She loved music 🎶 🎵  and I would always ask her "who sang that song?"  She could most often guess who it was but when she couldn't it would drive her crazy lol.  We had a lot of laughs.  I think of her every time I hear ' I Feel Good' by James Brown 🙂 R.I.P. Michelle🙏
