

Born June 2, 1939 in Mulgrave to the late Owen & Ida (Gillis) Carter.
Some of mom's happiest memories were from her childhood times with her siblings and close friends in Hadleyville. Her journey into sports began with stock car racing in her late 20s in Mulgrave. After moving to Canso she became involved with the Canso Curling Club and then with softball, both as a player and later as a coach.
She was a founding member of the Canso Arena Commission and instrumental in establishing the AA program in Canso. She was a homecare worker and then became director of Canso and Area Homemaker Services.
Mom was a devout Catholic and a strong supporter of Star of the Sea Parish in Canso.
After the loss of her husband Bill, mom made the courageous move to Halifax with her three fur babies to be closer to family where she spent the remainder of her life.
She is survived by her five children: Fred (Natalie) Antigonish, Cathy, Beechville, Tish (Tom), Halifax, Anne, Beechville, Art, Beechville. Grandchildren James (Joelle) Blackie, AB and Cameron, Beechville. Great grandchildren Porter and Deacon, Blackie, AB, Special fur baby Sox. Stepchildren Michelle(Craig), Marina (Pat), Willy (Art) and Billy (Tanya). Sisters Margie, Neila(Lorne); Sisters-in-law Ann Carter & Theresa Carter, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by husband Bill Munroe; brothers Neil, Owen, Art, Jerry and sister Mary.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be arranged at a later date at St Lawrence Roman Catholic Church in Mulgrave.
