

It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow to announce the peaceful passing of a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother Nahad Ghosn on October 2nd 2013 at the age of 89. Nahad Ghosn was predeceased by her late husband Antonios Ghosn, to whom she devoted her life and heart to. Starting their life together in Diman Lebanon, they married in August of 1943. They immigrated to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1986 to be closer to their children. Nahad loved and committed herself to their life together, raising their children, and later turning her love and attention to her husband during his sickness until his passing in November of 1998.
Nahad was known by all as a woman of strong faith and love for God. She ensured that the teachings of the church were instilled in her children and their families. During most of her life she attended mass on a nightly basis. When she was unable to attend, she would pray the rosary and partake in televised mass celebrations. Furthermore, Nahad played an active role in her church organization and had the opportunity to lead the Maronite ladies confraternity of Our Lady of Lebanon Church. To recognize her devotion to the Maronite faith, Nahad, was recognized by His Holy Emminence Pope John Paul II.
Nahad had a love for life, and was full of energy and strength. She enjoyed walking, reading, and world travels. Some of her favorite destinations were the holy sites of Italy, France and Lebanon. She also had a passion for nurturing the land and was often found tending to her garden. Above all, it was her family who brought her the most joy. Nahad had a youthful spirit, and enjoyed family gatherings around the dinner table.
Nahad is survived by her children Youmna Daniel (late Joseph Daniel), Charbel (Nina) Ghosn, Threse Ghosn, Wafaa (Yousef) Lattouf, Sana (Andrew) Metlege, Marie (Amin) Rizkhalla, Katia (Badoui) Hobieche. She is also survived by her precious grandchildren Elvira (John) Alphonce, Tony (Raiza) Daniel, Robert (Lisa) Daniel, Edward Daniel, Mary Jo (Robert) BouJaoudeh, Charbel Lattouf, Simone Lattouf, Veronica (Louis) Lawen, Joseph (Diane) Metlege, Matthew Metlege, Andrea Metlege, Nadine Rizkalla, Sami Rizkalla, Edwena (Jimmy) Kennedy, Richard Hobeiche, Eliana Hobeiche, as well as her 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Hinid Jabbour, Marie Campeau, Margo Arab, Jacqueline Hanna, Maha Arab and Josephine Fares.
Visitation will be Friday October 4, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at JA Snows Funeral home, 339 Lacewood Drive. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday October 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lebanon Church, 3844 Joseph Howe Drive. Burial to follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Our Lady of Lebanon Church of Halifax.
